This voyage will start from the historic city of Willemstad where Ar Seiz Avel is moored at Curacao Marina.
On the day of our departure after our safety briefing and the “Man Overboard” drills we will set sail for the West side of the island to anchor near Playa Forti. The next morning weather permitting we can say good by to the last of the Curacao coastline, this is the start of our 500nm offshore sailing voyage across the Caribbean Sea to The British Virgin Islands.
Sailing the prevailing Easterly Trade Winds we anticipate to sail close hauled for 500miles till we reach the British Virgin Island. This is a great opportunity to work on our offshore sailing skills, safety at sea, watch keeping and other practical sailing techniques.
We should be on the lookout for St Croix as this is the first island we will see before arriving at the British Virgin Islands. Our port of entry will be Road Town where we will obtain clearance before visiting other islands. Discovering the beauty of the BVI's is all about uncovering the unique character of each island in this unspoiled volcanic archipelago. From the culture and history of BVI’s four largest islands to the pristine natural splendor of more then 50 smaller isles, every place you drop anchor offers its own special magic. Road Town will be our final destination where this voyage will end.
